MANCHESTER, England -- Newcastle manager Alan Pardew accused Arsenal of showing a lack of respect by lodging a bid for key midfielder Yohan Cabaye only hours before his teams opening Premier League game on Monday. Cabaye missed Newcastles 4-0 loss to Manchester City because Pardew said the France international wasnt in the right frame of mind to play. "Weve prepared with the lad for three days," Pardew said, "and then for him to have his head turned by this bid from Arsenal on the eve of a game is just disrespectful in my view." "Why they couldnt give us the respect and honour of waiting till Tuesday morning is beyond me," Pardew added. Pardew said he is "upset" by the situation and that Arsenals offer, reported in the British media to be about 10 million pounds ($15.65 million), is "below our valuation of the player, for sure." Cabaye is the latest leading player to be left unsettled by a bid from a rival Premier League team this summer. Manchester United has turned down two bids from Chelsea for striker Wayne Rooney, and Liverpool is refusing to let Uruguay international Luis Suarez leave following an offer in excess of 40 million pounds from Arsenal. Together with Real Madrids pursuit of Tottenham winger Gareth Bale, these are transfer stories that will run and run until the window closes on Sept. 2. For that reason, Pardew believes the summer window should be closed before the season begins. "He (Cabaye) is a player that you put in Suarez and Bales situation," Pardew said. "I think theres a question of the window being closed before we kick off the Premier League season. "I know the Premier League did enquire to the European leagues to perhaps do it, and they said the European leagues wouldnt fall in line. But after the summer we have had, with the situations we have had with Rooney as well, its definitely something they need to put under the microscope once again." Venta Nike Air Max 1 . The top eight teams, regardless of conference, qualify for the postseason. The Lynx remaining goal during the regular season will be to secure one of the top two seeds, giving them a bye to the semifinals of the postseason.Theyll also want to keep their key players rested and healthy for a run at their repeat championship, which would be their fourth title in six years. That shouldnt be too much of a challenge, considering six of their remaining nine games are against teams that are under .500.The Sun (8-16) are one of those teams but Minnesota will face Connecticut during one of its best runs of the season. Connecticut has won two in a row and five of its past eight games. It took a wwhile, but were really excited about the second half of the season, being 5-3 in our last eight games, and those three losses we had late leads in all of those games, Connecticut coach Curt Miller said.dddddddddddd So were really excited about how were playing, but more importantly about the culture that seems to have started with this team. The Sun will certainly have Minnesotas full attention, thanks to Connecticuts 93-89 home overtime win over the Lynx on July 7. In that victory the Sun received exemplary performances from Alex Bentley (24 points) and Chiney Ogwumike (21 points, seven rebounds) to help secure victory.Four Minnesota players -- Lindsay Whalen, Seimone Augustus, Maya Moore and Sylvia Fowles -- and coach Cheryl Reeve were part of the United States gold-medal-winning team in Rio. That means that while most of the leagues teams had a month to rest for the final push of the regular season, a third of the Lynx roster did not. ' ' '
